Late-harvest Riesling from Rheinhessen, sweet and generous, with ripe peach, apricot, honey, citrus and baked apple; with age it gains notes of caramel, nuts and minerals. Winemaker's Notes
Peter Mertes was founded in 1924 by Peter Mertes and has been based since 1969 in Bernkastel-Kues, a thousand-year-old town on the Mosel. Four generations later, the family house has become one of Germany's largest wine producers, exporting to some 70 countries. Spätlese means 'late harvest': the grapes are picked riper, giving a richer and sweeter wine.

Tasting Notes
